Hi all,
I decided to add this bit to address additions and updates to my web site. After a lot of work and testing, re-working and more testing I am releasing two new Excel workbooks in the Ships and Shipping line. In addition, I have updated two other workbooks with things I left out and fixes to problems that I and others encountered.
- Shipbuilding: I added some items under outfitting (oarsmen and marines) and fixed some issues I found in some of the macros. In addition, I have the Vessel Data Form calculating the launching and commission dates for the completed vessel.
- Shipping: Again this update fixes some issues that were brought up and allows the user to use the Crew Generation routine to select daily wages paid during a voyage and shares to be used to divide profits. In addition, the ledger has been cleaned up.
- Crew Generation: This is a new product that leads you through the process of building a crew or hiring needed crewmen.
- Navigation and Movement: This has been a bear to get done and to make it something that GM's and players would find usable in their campaigns.
Although I have released these four separately over the last few months, they are meant to be used as a package. The 'Shipbuilding' workbook will allow you to build or generate a vessel for the characters to use in your campaign. The 'Crew Generation' workbook will allow you to populate that vessel for the journeys to come. The 'Navigation and Movement' workbook will allow you to move the vessel about the map and have the players react to the situation that arise from the weather and encounters. Finally, the 'Shipping' workbook will allow your characters to conduct maritime trade and transportation activities. Each workbook and their corresponding data sheets provide information that other workbooks ask for.
Even if you don't use Harn or the HârnMaster game system you should find these workbooks useful in your own campaign.
